The Thai government, through the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, actively works to block access to hundreds of offshore gambling websites each year in an attempt to enforce this prohibition. However, the effectiveness of these measures is limited. A significant number of Thai citizens continue to access and use international online casinos and sportsbooks.

This is largely facilitated by the use of VPNs, which allow users to bypass government censorship and access blocked sites with relative ease. This has created a large, unregulated market where Thai players bet on a wide array of games and sports offered by foreign operators. While the legal framework is clear in its prohibition, the practical reality is that enforcement is challenging.

The authorities tend to focus their resources on cracking down on domestic gambling rings and operators rather than pursuing individual players who use offshore platforms. Nonetheless, engaging with these sites remains a risky endeavor, as it is a direct violation of Thai law and carries the potential for legal consequences.
